BhaThere is a place at night where Ram is worshiped but worshiping Hanuman ji is prohibited here. There is neither any temple of Hanumanji here nor does anyone take his name. There are no devotees of Hanuman here far and wide, not only this, people also avoid names like Hanuman, Bajrang, Sankatmochan and Maruti, but why so?
The story behind this is related to the Ramayana period. There is a village named Dronagiri in Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Taking the name of Hanuman ji is also prohibited in this village. There is no idol of Hanuman, no temple here. Ram ji is worshiped here but the residents here are angry with Hanuman ji since the Ramayana period till now. People here do not worship Hanuman but worship the demon Nimba, the enemy of Ram.
Its strings are connected to Ramayana period
According to beliefs, its story is related to the Ramayana period. It is said that when Lakshman ji had become unconscious in the war with Ravana, Hanuman ji had come to this village to collect Sanjeevani Booti. While searching for the herb, Hanuman ji could not understand which herb to take and he lifted the entire mountain to save Lakshman ji’s life because only Sanjeevani could save Lakshman ji’s life.
The local deity here did not forgive Hanuman ji.
When Hanuman ji did this, the local deity Latu Devta did not forgive him. Locals believe that Hanuman ji had not taken permission before uprooting the mountain and at that time his mountain deity was to be used for worship. Hanuman ji had taken away the right hand of the mountain god, due to which even today the people here have not been able to forgive Hanuman ji. This is the reason why people here neither worship Hanuman ji nor take his name.
