Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman marked a new milestone in his creative journey by presenting an immersive film at the Dome in Vancouver, becoming the first Indian artist to do so.
Rahman showcased his directorial debut Le Musk, adapted especially for the Dome’s 360 degree viewing format.
The gala screening of Le Musk took place in Vancouver and received an enthusiastic response, with two sold-out shows. The presentation highlighted Rahman’s continued exploration of immersive media and experiential storytelling.
Le Musk is an English-language immersive film directed by A.R. Rahman. The project was earlier presented at the Cannes XR Forum and has since been showcased in Singapore, Toronto and Los Angeles, drawing attention for its innovative use of technology and sensory engagement.
Designed as a multi-sensory experience, Le Musk goes beyond a 360 degree visual format by integrating scent as a narrative tool. The use of fragrance plays a key role in storytelling, allowing audiences to experience the film through both sight and smell, and adding a distinctive emotional dimension to the narrative.
Speaking on the project and the gala showcase, A.R. Rahman said, “Le Musk has been a true passion project for me. It’s about exploring new forms of storytelling and sharing our way of narratives with a wider audience. I’m excited by the possibilities of the dome immersive format and hope to take this experience to audiences around the world.”
With its Vancouver Dome presentation, Le Musk continues its journey across global immersive platforms, reinforcing Rahman’s interest in blending technology, art, and storytelling through innovative cinematic formats.
