It is said that he has been doing this journey for more than two decades. Wang Ruisen, a resident of Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China, bought his first van in 2003. He bought this van to fulfill his dream of a road trip. Since then, Wang has been on road trips across China with his wife, Shang. His wife Shang is now 86 years old.
Every year, Wang and his wife travel at least 20,000 kilometers. It involves two or three long journeys, sometimes lasting for months. Wang and Shang have visited areas such as Xinjiang in the northwest and Tibet in the southwest. He says that the purpose of these trips is to enjoy the natural beauty of the country and to improve their life by knowing about every place.
The couple says that they have visited every famous tourist spot in China. Well, Wang’s life is not limited to just travelling. In 1951, during the Korean War, he also served as a driver and machine repairman in the People’s Volunteer Army. However, he does not talk much about that life.
When he started travelling, Wang used to drive the van for up to 10 hours a day, but now this has reduced to six or seven hours. Nevertheless, the trip brings great joy to Wang and Shang. Shang says she always feels safe when traveling with Wang.
