On April 1, the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026) witnessed a historic run chase in the Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Multan Sultans match. Sultans chased down a challenging target of 226 runs with 8 balls left, because of Fakhar Zaman’s stellar unbeaten 106-run innings in 57 deliveries. With this T20 hundred, the Pakistan international opener broke former India captain Rohit Sharma’s record and joined Virat Kohli in the elite rankings.
Farhan surpassed Rohit Sharma as he registered his 9th T20 century. While Rohit has 8 T20 tons so far under his belt.
Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Multan Pakistan IPL 2026 match summary
Talking about the high scoring match in the PSL 2026, Hyderabad Kingsmen, one of the two latestly joined franchises in the league, scored a massive total of 225 in 20 overs l, losing only 5 batters. Maaz Sadaqat (62 off 26) and Sharjeel Khan (51 not out off 26) were the main driven forces in the innings. Usman Khan, Saad Ali, and Irfan Khan Niazi also played well to take the run rate to the roof.
Unlike the Hyderabad Kingsmen’s performance as a unit, Multan Sultans run chase was mostly dependent on Sahibzada Farhan after the dismissal of Steve Smith. Smith and Farhan tailored a 104-run partnership in 8.1 overs only. After the wicket of Steve Smith, the batting line-up of the team was a bit shaky.
Farhan’s gritty innings was an example of class and temperament and a strong will to win the match. During the run chase, Shan Masood (29) and Arafat Minhas (26*) chipped in with crucial cameos. While Smith provided the initial spark, Sahibzada Farhan was the undisputed protagonist of the evening, and obviously the Player of the Match.

After the century, Farhan is now stands jointly in the fourth position in the all-time list of centurions in T20 with the Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli and South African batter Rilee Rossouw.
These three batters have 9 T20 centuries each. David Warner (10), Babar Azam (11) and Chris Gayle (22) are on the third, second and on the first place, respectively. Farhan is also the second-fastest to reach nine T20 hundreds, playing 160 innings. He is only after the West Indian legend Chris Gayle who achieved the feat in 127 innings.

“I think the hundreds I’ve been scoring in domestic cricket are now helping me at the international level (on pitch and form). Whenever I reach fifty or sixty, I try not to throw it away and aim to convert it into a big score – nine centuries is a big achievement, but I want to make even more,” Sahibzada Farhan said after the match.
Sahibzada Farhan has been in form since the T20 World Cup 2026. For his solo effort, ICC awarded him the player of the month award. Ahead of the PSL 2026, it was reported that Farhan was injured. He worked on fitness and comeback again from where he left.
