Assistant government lawyer Shailendra Bagade told the court that the SIT is investigating many important aspects, but the accused Ashok Kharat is not fully cooperating in the investigation. He also expressed apprehension that Kharat may have saved the numbers of many of his important contacts under some other name or surname. Therefore, it is very important to check mobile data only in his presence.
Victim’s statement: Accusation of making her drink ‘bitter water’
According to the government lawyer, in the case in which Kharat was arrested, he had given “salty and bitter water” to the victim to drink. After drinking this water, the victim started feeling dizzy, after which the accused raped her. Now SIT is investigating what was mixed in that water and what was its source.
Rupali Chakankar connection: What SIT said
Rupali Chakankar’s name has also come up in this case. She was associated with Kharat’s Charitable Trust as a trustee. The political atmosphere has also become heated regarding this case. There has also been a heated debate on this issue between Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule.
Property investigation: Suspicion of benami property
The investigating agencies are also investigating the movable and immovable properties of Kharat. They suspect that he may have acquired many properties in his own name or in the name of other people. Meanwhile, it has also come to light that along with sexually exploiting women, Ashok Kharat has also cheated many businessmen. Even Ashok Kharat’s name is registered as a nominee in more than 100 bank accounts. It is clear from this that he used to interfere a lot in people’s financial matters. It is also being said that a bank account of Ashok Kharat is also in the name of Rupali Chakankar’s sister.
