New Delhi: Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) experienced a widespread outage on Thursday, with users reporting multiple issues affecting core features. Some users reported not being able to load their feeds, log into accounts, or use the app correctly, which is a serious inconvenience, not a small glitch.
The failure also seemed to affect users in various regions at the same time. There were numerous reported blank schedules, error messages and broken log-ins. The abrupt interruption prompted users to use alternative sites in order to establish whether the problem was common.

Spike in outage reports
Downdetector reports that the number of complaints rose dramatically in a few hours. There was a visible spike right at 12:48 pm, and hundreds of users reported issues nearly simultaneously. The majority of the complaints were connected with the problems of the apps; the next most common issues were the problems with refreshing feeds and accessing the site.
Key problems faced by users
There are a number of problems that were reported by the users that impacted the normal functioning of the site. These were feeds not loading or refreshing, failure to log in, and the session timeouts. Other users also complained of delays during content posting or commenting on tweets, and some users complained that the app crashed sometimes.
Images posted online of empty feeds and error messages supported the magnitude of the outage.
No official response yet
At the moment of writing, X had not made any official statement about the outage. The nature of the disruption is still not known, and it could be either server-side or backend updates or network-related issues.
What users can do
Simple troubleshooting methods, which include restarting the application, clearing the cache, or changing the internet connections, can be used by users with problems. Nevertheless, in case the problem is at the server level, they might provide minimal relief until the platform solves the issue.
Once the underlying issue is resolved, the service is likely to stabilise.
