One such story is going viral on social media. Preeti Malik, co-founder of ‘Digital Creatives’ has shared a post on LinkedIn. Preeti tells that when one of her best employees talked about his resignation, she was very surprised.

Actually, Preeti had called that employee to the meeting to discuss some shortcomings related to his performance. But in the meeting the employee clearly said that he does not want to do the job anymore. On this, Preeti asked him only one question, ‘If you get a chance to design your own role, what would it be like?’

This one question turned the whole matter upside down. Preeti understood that the employee was not leaving the job for a salary hike or any other benefit, rather he was bored with his current job. He was interested in work related to automation, but he had to do other boring work. Because of this he was not feeling like working. The very next day, Preeti changed the role of the employee keeping his preferences in mind. After this the employee also decided to withdraw his resignation.

In her post, Preeti Malik said that retaining employees in the company is not done only by increasing the salary or providing facilities. It is important for employees to feel that the work they are doing is also leading to their own growth. Preeti says that because of the right question asked at the right time, she saved herself from losing one of her best employees.
