‘Don’t take Vaibhav Suryavanshi in Team India right now’, why did Ashwin give this advice? | Ashwin Warns Against Rushing Teen Sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi Into Indian Team

15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 52 runs in 17 balls in IPL. This performance raised the demand for his inclusion in Team India, but R Ashwin termed it as premature and advised not to put pressure on him.

Kolkata: In the very first match of the 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), young player Vaibhav Suryavanshi created a stir with his performance. Since then, the demand to include Vaibhav in the Indian team has started rising. But, Team India’s veteran spinner R Ashwin does not agree with this opinion.

Against Chennai Super Kings, Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a stormy innings of 52 runs in just 17 balls, which included 4 fours and 5 sixes. The special thing is that this 15 year old boy completed his fifty in just 15 balls. This is the third fastest half century in IPL history.

After this explosive innings of Vaibhav, former cricketers like Mohammad Kaif and Michael Vaughan advocated giving him a chance in the senior Indian team. However, R Ashwin believes that now is not the right time for Vaibhav to join the Indian team. Ashwin said, “Vaibhav is still a child. Such a huge burden of the Indian team should not be put on him right now. He is very talented and will definitely play for India one day. But it would be better to wait a little more for this.” Ashwin clearly said that unnecessary haste in this matter is not right.

Let us tell you that Vaibhav was a part of the team that won the Under-19 World Cup at the age of 14 and he also scored a century in the IPL last season. Recently he celebrated his 15th birthday, after which as per ICC rules, the selectors can select him for the senior team. The ICC rule is that to be selected in the senior team, a player must be at least 15 years of age.

The bowlers lost their sweat

Vaibhav thrashed the Chennai bowlers in the powerplay overs. He hit 4 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. However, he was out after scoring 52 runs, but by then Rajasthan’s victory was almost certain. Former Indian player Sanjay Bangar has praised Vaibhav’s performance.

Bangar said on Geostar, “This 15-year-old boy faced world class bowlers like Matt Henry, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmed with great ease. Suryavanshi forced him to change his strategy. At this age, he has the ability to create fear in the minds of bowlers.
