MoU signed between CMDC and JNARDDC in Chhattisgarh. This will promote critical minerals research, modern mining, value addition, employment and industrial development.
Raipur. Taking forward Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Critical Mineral Mission and vision of self-reliant India, Chhattisgarh Government has taken another important initiative in the mineral sector. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, the State Government is making continuous efforts to promote scientific, sustainable and value-added use of mineral resources. In this direction, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Limited (CMDC) and Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminum Research, Development and Design Center (JNARDDC), Nagpur. This agreement was concluded under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai, CMDC Chairman Shri Saurabh Singh, Mineral Resources Department Secretary Shri P. Dayanand and Managing Director Shri Rajat Bansal.
Critical Mineral Mission: MoU will boost mineral research and value addition
The objective of this agreement between CMDC and JNARDDC is to give a new direction to scientific research, modern mining techniques, value addition of mineral resources and development of critical minerals. Through this, better utilization of the mineral resources available in the state will be ensured through planned, time bound and modern technologies. This will not only strengthen the mineral sector but will also give impetus to the overall development of the state.
CM Vishnu Deo Sai: Special emphasis given on research based mineral development
Chief guest at the MOU exchange program, Shri Pankaj Kulshrestha said that research based mineral development, technological innovation and institutional cooperation will prove to be extremely beneficial for both the state and the country in future. He expressed confidence that this partnership will be an initiative giving far-reaching results in the mineral sector.
Indian Bureau of Mines appreciated the working of CMDC
Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, Dr. B.L. Gurjar appreciated the better coordination between CMDC and Mineral Resources Department. He said that the coordination between the two institutions is giving new impetus to the mineral sector of Chhattisgarh and this will develop many new possibilities in the future.
CMDC presented 25 years’ achievements and future plans.
CMDC General Manager Shri U.K. Qureshi gave a detailed presentation on the Corporation’s 25 years of growth journey, major achievements, operational mineral projects and future action plans. He said that Chhattisgarh is a very rich state in terms of mineral wealth and continuous efforts are being made for scientific and inclusive use of the resources available here.
Tin and Corundum projects boost employment and transparency
Regional Controller of Mines Shri Prem Prakash praised the tin and corundum projects of CMDC and said that these projects have provided employment opportunities to the local people. Besides, transparency and legal processes in the mineral sector have also been strengthened.
Critical Minerals Research: Important research is being done on Gallium, Vanadium and Scandium.
Dr. Upendra Singh, Senior Principal Scientist and Head of the Department, JNARDDC, informed that the institute is doing important research on the recovery of gallium and vanadium from red mud and scandium from bauxite by-products. He said that this type of research will play an important role in making India self-reliant in the field of critical minerals.
Formal exchange of MoU took place in the presence of senior officials
The formal exchange of the MoU was done by Shri Pankaj Kulshrestha, Controller General of Indian Bureau of Mines and Director of JNARDDC and Shri Sanjay Kanakne, Chief General Manager of CMDC in the presence of senior officials.
Chhattisgarh’s industrial development and employment generation will get new momentum
At the end of the program, all the speakers expressed confidence that this collaboration between CMDC and JNARDDC will give a new direction to mineral research, technological innovation, scientific resource management and sustainable mining. This is being considered as another important achievement in the mineral sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. The state government is making natural resources the basis of development through scientific management, value addition and modern technologies. This initiative, along with strengthening the Prime Minister’s Critical Mineral Mission and resolve for self-reliant India, will also provide new impetus to industrial development, employment generation and economic progress in Chhattisgarh.
At the beginning of the program, Chief General Manager of CMDC, Shri Sanjay Kanakne, while giving the welcome address, said that this MoU will prove to be an important milestone in the field of mineral research, innovation and sustainable development and will take the mineral development of the state to new heights in future.
