Pakistan’s terror nexus exposed: Shehbaz Sharif’s aide shares stage with Hafiz Saeed’s son

New Delhi: A picture of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Hafiz Saeed’s son has surfaced on social media, exposing the deep nexus between Pakistan’s political leadership and terror outfits that India has been claiming for years.

Hafiz Talha Saeed, the son of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed, was seen sharing the stage with Pakistan PM’s political affairs advisor, Rana Sanaullah, at a wedding function in Faisalabad. The duo was clicked together on the stage, shaking hands.

While it is not clear when the picture was taken, the two were seen openly interacting at the high-profile social gathering. The picture that has gone viral on social media platforms hints towards a deep pattern of informal links between individuals in Pakistan’s power regime and those linked to terror networks.

Hafiz Saeed, the Lashkar-e-Taiba chief, was named as the main conspirator of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack. Saeed, one of the most wanted terrorists in India, was also named in investigations into the Pulwama bombing. He is behind several terror financing and terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir and has multiple cases filed against him by India’s anti-terror agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA).

A US report recently highlighted that despite years of military operations and policy measures, the terrorist groups “continue to operate on Pakistani soil”. The report noted that 15 terror outfits are active in Pakistan and said it is the country “most impacted by terrorism”.
