Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has been fined Rs 12 lakh after he was found guilty for maintaining a slow over rate in match against Gujarat Titans during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match took place in New Chandigarh on March 31, Tuesday and Punjab Kings kicked off their campaign with a dashing win.

Despite facing a shaky middle order, the Shreyas Iyer led team was successful in winning the match by three-wickets against the 2022 champions Gujarat Titans. PBKS managed to chase down the target and secure crucial early points in the tournament.
Shreyas Iyer punished by BCCI
But this is not the first time Iyer has been fined for a slow-over rate. Even in the previous IPL season he was fined twice by BCCI – first Rs 12 lakh and then Rs 24 lakh for repeated offence.
Punjab Kings make a solid comeback
In the game, PBKS were very comfortable in early chase due to solid opening partnership of 77 runs between Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly. But the game took a different turn when Punjab was at 110/2 to 118/6 which raised concerns of a potential collapse as Gujarat Titans clawed their way back into the contest.
Cooper Connolly emerges as star player
Cooper Connolly was the star of the show as he remained calm under pressure with Xavier Bartlett. Conolly played a match winning knock of 72 runs and was also named as the Player of the Match for his dashing performance.
