New Delhi: A woman traveling in Vande Bharat Express has raised serious questions on the quality of food served in the train. The woman alleges that she developed a severe allergy after eating the food, due to which her lips became swollen. Not only this, his 2 year old son also suffered from diarrhoea. The woman shared pictures of her condition and medical reports on social media, which went viral. However, IRCTC has said in its clarification that the quality of food was fine. After this incident, a debate has once again erupted on social media regarding the cleanliness of food served in trains.
Allegations of bad food in Vande Bharat
This is not the first time that a complaint has come to light regarding the food of Vande Bharat. Even before this, such cases have come to light many times. While sharing the pictures, he said that his condition was due to the food he got in Vande Bharat. He also shared the medical report. The woman alleged that the incident took place on March 27, when she was traveling in E1 coach of Vande Bharat Express (train number 22500) from Varanasi to Deoghar.

Ayushi says she developed a severe allergy soon after eating the lunch served at Vande Bharat. During the journey his 2 year old son also started having diarrhoea. He said that if there was a delay in treatment, his condition could have worsened. She told that she was saved from any major incident by getting treatment within 24 hours. He also said that the taste of water found in the train was also strange.
IRCTC denies the allegations
The woman’s photographs and medical reports started being shared rapidly on social media. After this IRCTC itself responded on this matter. IRCTC said that the quality of food in Vande Bharat was satisfactory. IRCTC wrote in its reply, “Lunch served in Train No. 22500 BSB-DGHR Vande Bharat Express on 27.03.2026 was inspected and found satisfactory. No other complaints were received regarding quality, cleanliness or safety of food on that day.”

Disappointed with IRCTC’s response, the woman wrote, “Glad that no one else faced any problem, but me and my son did. We had only Vande Bharat food. We are the ones who are suffering, but perhaps you don’t mind.” After this, IRCTC asked the woman to directly file a complaint for further investigation.
