A new employee has taken to Reddit to question his 13-hour work schedule. He has to work even on weekends and gets only 2 days off in a month. This post has gone viral, in which people are calling it exploitation and debating on it.
A new employee has posted a post on Reddit regarding his grueling 13-hour work schedule, which is causing a lot of debate. The user claimed that he has to work in the office from 9 am to 5 pm and then from home from 5 pm to 10 pm. She questioned whether this was normal or whether she was being exploited, as she had to work even on weekends and got only two days off in a month.
The employee wrote on Reddit, “Is this work schedule even legal or am I being exploited?” He further wrote, “I wanted to understand whether the expectations of my current job are reasonable or whether I am being taken advantage of. My official working hours are: 9am to 5pm work from office. 5pm to 10pm work from home. So, I am actually working 13 hours a day. Additionally, we are also expected to work (from home) on Saturdays and Sundays.”
The employee said, “The office is closed on weekends, but we still have to work. We only get two days off every month. There is no real weekly off, and I feel like I’m working continuously without rest or recovery. Is this normal? This is my first job.”

A screenshot of a message from the company’s Human Resources (HR) department was also shared in the Reddit post. It was clearly written in it that if the employees want to go out of Kochi on weekends, they will have to inform the office about it.
What did people say on social media?
This post went viral and users started giving their opinion on this issue. One user commented, “Bro, leave this company. They have no right to know where you are on weekends. If they are asking you to work on weekends, it shows their poor planning. Employees should not have to pay the price for management’s mistakes!”
Another user wrote: “Immediately contact the HR department and submit your resignation. It is better to remain unemployed than to be a slave to this company. And yes, when you get full and final settlement, complain to the labor department and defame them on social media and Glassdoor.”
