According to the Puranas, Hanuman ji, who destroyed all the troubles in Kaliyuga, is residing on Gandhamadan mountain. This place is near Sumeru Mountain in the north direction of Mount Kailash. It is believed that Gandhamadan mountain is situated between Kailash Mansarovar and Badrinath Dham. Experts of Hindu religion consider this place as the penance place of accomplished sages.
Shri Ram had ordered to reside on earth
Gandhamadan mountain is considered a very divine and sacred place. According to the scriptures, Yakshas, Yakshinis, Kinnars, Apsaras etc. also live on Gandhamadan mountain. According to the story of Bhagwat Purana, Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram, while leaving the earth to Vaikunthalok, had ordered Hanuman ji to reside on the earth.
