Keep Vaibhav away from Team India… Why did Ashwin say this despite Suryavanshi scoring a half-century in 15 balls?

Ever since Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his debut in IPL, the question on the lips of many experts and fans is – when will Vaibhav Suryavanshi get entry in Team India? Vaibhav, who scored a century in 35 balls after hitting a six on the very first ball in his debut match last year, has created a stir with his bat in these 12 months. Now returning to IPL 2026, this 15 year old young batsman scored a half-century in 15 balls in the first match. In this way, there is a demand again that Vaibhav should be included in the senior Team India. But while most of the voices are being raised in its favor, former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin does not seem to agree with it.

In the IPL 2026 season, which started from March 28, Rajasthan Royals played their first match against Chennai Super Kings. In this match, Chennai Super Kings’ batting flopped badly and the entire team collapsed for just 127 runs. Whereas 15 year old Vaibhav displayed brilliant batting and wrote the story of a resounding victory by scoring 52 runs in just 17 balls. In this way, this young left-handed batsman showed that he is ready to once again dominate this league and play at the international level.

In the last one year, from IPL to Under-19 World Cup, Vaibhav has scored runs everywhere and in every format. In such a situation, the demand to give him a place in Team India is natural. But Ashwin believes that haste is not right here and it is wrong to burden Vaibhav with expectations right now. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, the veteran spinner said, “Don’t set such a target for him. He is not even a big boy yet, just a child. If Suryavanshi plays for 40 years, he still has two and a half decades of cricket left. Leave him alone for now. When the time is right, he will automatically come into the team.”

Ashwin praised Vaibhav’s batting a lot and said that it is not right to be so hasty about him. He is such a good player that he will remain playing in Team India and hence he should be allowed to come at his own time.

Vaibhav completed 15 years on March 27 and thus he is now eligible to debut in international cricket for the Indian cricket team. It is also believed that after the IPL, he may get a chance in the T20 team during Team India’s tour of Ireland in June. However, at present it would be too early to say this with full certainty. For now, Vaibhav will have to perform consistently with his bat throughout this season. If he is successful in this then the doors of the team will definitely open for him.
