Lucknow. Aligarh’s historical lock industry is now moving towards creating a new identity at the global level. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the country’s first ‘Lock Museum’ will be established here. The aim of this initiative is to preserve the traditional lock industry as well as connect it with modern technology and innovation. Due to this, the possibility of the annual turnover of the industry reaching beyond Rs 10 thousand crore has also increased.
Connectivity with Noida International Airport, foreign tourism will increase
This museum will be located at a distance of about 50 kilometers from Noida International Airport, so that tourists from many countries including America and Europe will be able to reach here easily. This will give Aligarh an opportunity to become a new tourist centre.
From traditional to hi-tech: The entire journey of the lock industry will be visible
This Lock Museum will not be just an exhibition space, but will be developed as a modern industrial and educational centre. The evolution from traditional handmade locks to modern high-tech security systems will be showcased here, allowing the new generation to understand the technological and social journey of this industry.
Special focus on skill development, training and research
According to Municipal Commissioner Prem Prakash Meena, this museum will promote skill development, design, innovation and entrepreneurship for the youth. It will also be developed as a permanent knowledge centre, where programs related to training, research and technological development will be organised.
MSME and exports will get a big boost
This project will help in connecting locksmith artisans with modern technologies, thereby improving their productivity and quality. With this, MSME units will get an opportunity to showcase their products at national and international level, which will give new impetus to exports and market expansion.

The construction of the Lock Museum will boost tourism, which will increase local trade and services. This will result in generation of employment opportunities on a large scale and the youth will get new opportunities.
