New Delhi: Applications for a total of 2,640 flats across Mumbai were opened by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) on Monday. The prices of these flats range from as low as Rs 29 lakh to Rs 6.82 crore. The lottery draw is set to take place on May 15.
Within hours of the process opening, 430 applications were received, including 165 along with earnest money deposits (EMD).
Where are these houses located?
The flats are distributed across 97 projects in various key locations across the city. These include Bandra, Goregaon, Vikhroli, Chembur, Borivali, Girgaon, Ghatkopar, Dadar, Powai, Mazgaon, and Wadala.
On the higher side, two flats in Tardeo’s Crescent Towers, measuring 1,838 sq ft and 1,510 sq ft, cost Rs 6.78 crore each. In Prabhadevi’s Marine Building, two units of over 1,200 sq ft are available in the Rs 6.13 crore to Rs 6.15 crore range. Some other high-priced homes above Rs 2 crore are located in Worli, Juhu, Parel, Lower Parel, Matunga, and Prabhadevi.
On the lower end, units of around 300 sq ft are available for Rs 29 lakh in Mankhurd and Goregaon.
What’s the criteria?
Out of the total houses, as many as 145 flats are reserved for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) — those whose annual family income is up to Rs 6 lakh. There are 858 houses that will be allotted to the Lower Income Group (LIG), with annual family income of Rs 6–9 lakh, and 1,408 for the Middle Income Group (MIG) (Rs 9–12 lakh income). Rest of the 229 flats come under the Higher Income Group (HIG) category for those earning above Rs 12 lakh per annum.
MHADA authorities said that houses requiring repairs will be refurbished before possession, while as many as 1,762 units are currently under construction.
The last date to submit applications online is April 29. It has to be submitted through MHADA’s housing portal or the IHLMS 2.0 mobile app. On May 5, a provisional list of applicants will be put out. This will be followed by a claims and objections window, which will be open till May 8. On May 12, the final list will be released, ahead of the lottery draw scheduled for May 15.
