A social media post has cost Pakistan’s fast bowler Naseem Shah a lot. Naseem Shah has been sentenced to severe punishment by his cricket board due to a controversial post regarding the Chief Minister of Punjab province of Pakistan, Maryam Nawaz. After hearing this case, Pakistan Cricket Board has imposed a heavy fine of 2 crore Pakistani rupees i.e. about Rs 68 lakh on Naseem Shah. Despite apologizing for his controversial post, the Pakistani board has taken this action against the star pacer.
More than half of salary deducted in fine
Naseem Shah The PCB had formed a disciplinary committee to hear the case, before which he appeared on Monday 30 March. Naseem presented his side in this appearance and apologized unconditionally for this incident. After the controversial post, Naseem had already claimed that his account was hacked. However, despite this, PCB had issued a notice to him and now even after hearing his reply, the board has imposed a heavy fine on Naseem.
This punishment of PCB is dangerous because it is more than half of Naseem Shah’s annual salary. Naseem Shah has been kept in Grade C in its central contract by the Pakistani board, in which the annual salary is 2.5 million Pakistani rupees i.e. about 85 lakh rupees. Now out of this he will have to pay about Rs 68 lakh as fine. Apart from this, Naseem has also removed his social media advisor, while PCB has also blacklisted him and now he will not be able to connect with any player.
There was an uproar over this matter
Naseem Shah, who is currently playing for the new team Rawalpindi Pindies in PSL 2026, had recently made a post in which he targeted Maryam Nawaz. Actually, a post was made from the social media account of PCB, in which Maryam Nawaz had reached Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for the first match of PSL. Naseem Shah raised questions on this post of PCB and wrote that why is he being treated as if he is the queen at Lord’s.
Naseem had posted this because PCB had decided to organize the tournament without spectators, due to which there is a ban on fans coming to the stadium. However, after the controversy, Naseem immediately deleted this post and claimed that his account had been deleted. However, PCB sent him a notice the very next day.
