Monday brought great relief for lakhs of students studying in Uttar Pradesh. The state government transferred scholarships worth crores of rupees directly into the bank accounts of the students in a single day. In a program organized in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released scholarship and fee reimbursement amount of Rs 3350 crore to about 27.99 lakh students. The government says the move will most help those students who come from economically weaker families and depend on government assistance to continue their studies.
28 lakh students got scholarship
In a program organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in the capital Lucknow, the Chief Minister sent thousands of crores of rupees to the accounts of students through a single click. This scholarship is given to class 9-10 students as well as Dashmottara (Post Matric) students. Poor families also got financial help
Apart from scholarships, the government has also provided major assistance under the National Family Benefit Scheme. Financial assistance of about Rs 100 crore was given to 33,334 families whose main earning member has died. The government says that the purpose of this scheme is to provide financial support to such families who suddenly fall into crisis.
Message of hard work given to students
Addressing the students in the program, the Chief Minister said that scholarship is only help, not the destination. He told the students that there is no substitute for hard work and only continuous efforts in studies will take them ahead. He also said that it is important to utilize the scholarship amount properly as its purpose is to support students to pursue studies.
Government laid emphasis on the use of technology
The Chief Minister said that now the process of scholarship distribution is completely linked to technology. Earlier the money used to go to the districts and there were many problems in reaching the students from there. Now money is being sent directly to bank accounts through digital system. This has increased transparency and reduced the possibility of corruption.
Lakhs of students are getting benefits
According to the government, a target has been set to give scholarships worth about Rs 4800 crore to about 67 lakh students in the financial year 2025-26. This includes students from Scheduled Castes, Tribes, Backward Classes, Economically Weaker Sections from General Category and students from minority communities. The government says that the purpose of the scholarship scheme is not limited to any one category, but is to provide help to all the needy students.
Many schemes for youth and women also
The state government also mentioned many schemes for youth and women. These include schemes to promote employment, skill training and women entrepreneurship. Apart from this, financial assistance is being given to lakhs of daughters through Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana. According to the government, about 26 lakh daughters have benefited from this scheme in the last seven years.
The Uttar Pradesh government claims that direct help is being provided to poor and needy families through schemes related to scholarship, family assistance and employment. Transfer of thousands of crores of rupees to the accounts of students and needy families in a single day is an indication that the government is trying to implement education and social security schemes at a faster pace.
