  • Chaturthi date ends: 6 April 2026, Monday till 02:10 pm.
  • Date of fast: According to the calculations of Udayatithi and moonrise, the fast of Vikat Sankashti Chaturthi will be observed on 5th April 2026, Sunday.

How to do puja at home?

Wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean red or yellow clothes. Take a pledge to fast in front of Lord Ganesha with water and Akshat in your hand. Spread a red cloth on a wooden stool and install the idol or picture of Lord Ganesha. Bathe Ganpati with Ganga water. Offer them vermillion, Akshat, Durva (21 knots), and red flowers. Then offer his favorite modak or laddu to Lord Ganesha. At the end, read or listen to the fast story of Sankashti Chaturthi and perform the aarti of Jai Ganesh Deva.   • Rules of Arghya: While giving water to the moon, keep your eyes down or look at the moon through the stream of water in the pot.
  • Satvikta: Be completely virtuous on this day. Give up garlic, onion or tamasic food.
  • Charity: Before breaking the fast, it is considered auspicious to donate to Brahmins or the needy as per one’s capacity.
