Fakhar Zaman charged as ball-tampering allegations haunt PSL

New Delhi: Fakhar Zaman was charged and his side Lahore Qalandars penalised for alleged ball tampering in a Pakistan Super League match against Karachi Kings.

Needing 14 runs to win off the final over, Kings were awarded five penalty runs after the umpires decided that Pakistan batter Zaman had broken rules by “unfairly changing the condition of the ball”.

“Fakhar denied the charge leveled against him during a disciplinary hearing led by the match referee Roshan Mahanama,” the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement.

“Another hearing is set to take place within the next 48 hours after which the match referee will share his verdict.”
