Mythological story of Som Pradosh Vrat (Pradosh Vrat 2026 Katha)
According to the legend, in ancient times there used to be a Brahmin woman in every city. She was very poor. She was supporting herself and her child by begging. Once he found an injured child on the river bank. He was not an ordinary child, but a prince of Vidarbha. His kingdom was taken away by killing his parents.
The Brahmin brought the prince to her home and started raising him like her own son. After some time, she took both the children to the ashram of Rishi Shandilya. Where the sage met him. The sage asked the Brahmin and the two children to observe Som Pradosh fast and read its story. Following the sage’s orders, the Brahmin and the children observed the Som Pradosh fast with full devotion and read the story.
After some time, when the prince grew up, he met the Gandharva girl. The girl’s name was Anshumati. Rajkumar and Anshumati fell in love with each other. When the Gandharva king came to know the truth about the prince of Vidarbha, he married his daughter to him. After the marriage, the prince regained his lost kingdom with the help of the Gandharva army.
The prince gave a place to that Brahmin and her son in the palace. Due to the influence of Som Pradosh fast and story, the prince got his kingdom and the poverty of the Brahmin woman was gone forever.
