Bhooth Bangla Writer Rohan Shankar Reveals Priyadarshan Offered Him ‘Haiwaan’ A Day After Akshay Kumar Film – EXCL

Akshay Kumar reunited with Priyadarshan after a long time for his upcoming horror comedy, Bhooth Bangla. The film also marks Akshay’s reunion with his Bhool Bhulaiyaa co-stars Paresh Rawal, late Asrani and Rajpal Yadav.

In fact, the movie is one of the most anticipated releases of this year. Ahead of its release on April 10, Zoom exclusively interacted with Bhooth Bangla writer Rohan Shankar. In conversation with us, Rohan revealed that Priyadarshan offered him Haiwaan, a day after he was offered the Akshay Kumar-starrer Bhooth Bangla.

In a free-wheeling conversation with us, Rohan admitted that he has been a big fan of filmmaker

and his movies. Revealing how he bagged Bhooth Bangla, the writer recalled, “What happened is I wrote a script and it was a very situation comedy kind of a film. Somehow, I reached out to Priyadarshan sir; he came here two years back. I narrated him the story. And he loved it and said, ‘Yes, I’m doing it’.”

Later, the filmmaker called Rohan at night and told him that before he does his project, he wants the writer to work on Bhooth Bangla. “He offered me this because he liked my writing, and then he saw my movies. I think he felt that this would be right for the film. He offered me Bhooth Bangla, and the next day he offered me Haiwaan also. I was very excited to work,” added Rohan.

As the conversation continued, Rohan shared he had already done a lot of comedy in initial phase of his career. He was even developing something in horror comedy. “But when Priyadarshan sir narrated to me the line-up that was in his mind for Bhooth Bangla, I was really surprised because he had a lot of interesting things. And I thought if we make a good script, then this will be a very special film.”

Next, the writer went through the process and worked with Priyadarshan in his Chennai residence. “I sat there for 8 to 10 days and wrote my own dialogues and a lot of things. It happened like that. It could have been any genre. But since Priyan sir is a master of comedy and Bhooth Bangla is 97th film, it’s amazing, and I enjoyed a lot.”
