Raymond’s former chairman Vijaypat Singhania died on Saturday evening in Mumbai. He was 87 years old. Vijaypat Singhania’s son and current chairman and managing director of the group, Gautam Singhania, shared the information about his demise on social media platform X. Raymond Group spokesperson said that Singhania died in Mumbai and his last rites will be performed on Sunday.
Padma Bhushan awardee Vijaypat Singhania was also a skilled pilot and had set a world record for achieving the highest altitude in a hot air balloon. He served as chairman of Raymond for two decades until 2000.

After handing over the reins to Gautam, Vijaypat transferred his entire 37 percent stake in the company to his son. A few years ago, there was a legal dispute between Vijaypat Singhania and his son Gautam, but later they resolved the matter.
