Ruba Tadu won the gold medal in 88 kg weightlifting by lifting 274 kg in Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 held in Raipur. Deverakonda Prem Sagar and Soram Tagru stood second and third respectively. There was tough competition in the competition.
Raipur. Under Khelo India Tribal Games 2026, men’s 88 kg weightlifting competition was organized at Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla University Sports Ground, Raipur. In this competition, players from all over the country performed brilliantly and the spectators got to see exciting matches. Every player tried his best, making the competition extremely competitive.
Ruba Tadu became champion: won gold medal with 274 kg
In this competition, Ruba Tadu of Arunachal Pradesh performed brilliantly and won the gold medal by lifting a total weight of 274 kg. He ensured his victory by lifting 117 kg in snatch and 157 kg in clean and jerk.
Deverakonda Prem Sagar and Soram Tagru won silver and bronze medals
Deverakonda Prem Sagar of Andhra Pradesh stood second, who won the silver medal by lifting a total weight of 270 kg. At the third place was Soram Hitler Tagru of Arunachal Pradesh, who won the bronze medal by lifting 262 kg.
Performance of other players: Players from Odisha, Assam and Madhya Pradesh also shone.
Sanatan Malik of Odisha stood fourth in the competition with 249 kg. Pritam Sonowal of Assam finished fifth by lifting 248 kg. Prithviraj Chauhan of Madhya Pradesh stood sixth with 226 kg.
Players from other states also took part and increased their experience.
Apart from this, Daniel Jamatia of Tripura (192 kg), Alastair Gomes of Goa (152 kg), Siddaboina Naveen of Telangana (146 kg) and Chhatrapal Thakur of Chhattisgarh (130 kg) also participated in the competition. These players gained experience from their performance and prepared themselves for the future.
