IPL 2026 season is about to start and the situation is not yet clear regarding the playing of injured players of many teams. In the very first match of the season, defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad will also take the field without their star fast bowlers. Similarly, the fans of 5-time champion Mumbai Indians are also worried about their star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah whether he will not be able to play in the first match. But 48 hours before the match on Sunday, Mumbai’s worries have gone away because Bumrah is fit to play.
Bumrah arrived 2 days before the match
The 19th season of IPL is starting from March 28, in which the first match is to be played between RCB and SRH. The second match of the season will be held on Sunday 29 March between former champions Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants. This match is to be played at Mumbai’s home ground Wankhede Stadium. But even till about 3 days before this match Bumrah was not associated with the team. In fact, he had suddenly reached BCCI’s Center of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, which had increased the possibility of injury.
But now Mumbai and its fans have got a chance to heave a sigh of relief because Bumrah has finally joined the team. According to the report of Cricbuzz, Bumrah reached Mumbai Indians’ hotel on the evening of Friday 27th March and now his hopes of playing in the first match have increased. Bumrah was on a break since the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 held on March 8.
Bumrah had increased the tension
Mumbai Indians had given extra break to its players who were part of the World Cup final, but captain Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma had already returned to the team. Whereas Bumrah suddenly went to CoE and stayed there for 5 days. This had increased the fear that Bumrah might be injured. But it was nothing like that and his going there was part of the routine process. This means Bumrah will be available for the entire tournament, which is big news for Mumbai in its path to winning the title.
