House arrest row erupts as police deployed outside opposition leaders’ homes ahead Noida International Airport inauguration

New Delhi: Officials have cordoned off opposition leaders’ residences ahead of the grand inauguration of the Noida International Airport on Saturday, March 28. The administration has arranged all security protocols in view of the proposed visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The police have deployed forces outside the homes of opposition leaders, including the Samajwadi Party, Kisan Sangathan, and others, in view of any potential protest or disruption in the inauguration.

Earlier, when the government acquired the land from farmers for the establishment of the Jewar Airport, farmers demanded one government job per family, but no such promises were made by the government officially, nor was any government job given to any farmer, leading to several Kisan sangathans and Samajwadi Party protests, due to which a heavy deployment of police has been set up outside opposition leaders’ houses.

The opposition called the situation a house arrest and a siege. A report by the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) revealed the leaders who might be active in any such activity or demonstration. Based on the report, the administration has deployed a heavy police force as a precautionary measure to stop any sloganeering, black flag waving, or attempts to gather crowds during the inauguration ceremony.

Administration’s action taken under drug security measures

The administration said that the actions have been taken to maintain law and order and secure VIP movement during the inauguration ceremony. The topmost leaders of the country are set to attend the ceremony, so it is essential to make several protocols. The Noida Police Commissionerate said that strict action will be taken against whoever tries to disrupt the event.

The opposition leaders protested the administration’s action as they alleged that police deployed the forces without any notice or reason.
