Delhi crime: Rapido bike rider robbed, killed; 2 arrested, one minor apprehended

New Delhi: The Delhi Police arrested two men and also caught a minor boy for allegedly killing a Rapido bike rider after robbing him in Rohini area of Delhi on Tuesday. The police said the two men are named Krissh and Ankit, also known as Mogli. The man who died was 30-year-old Rajjab Khan, a Rapido driver from Loni, Ghaziabad.

As per police reports, early Tuesday morning, the two men and the minor were waiting at a park in Rohini’s Sector 17. They were expecting a friend who was arriving on a Rapido bike. The friend, who is now missing, suggested they could steal money from the driver.

Series of events

Around 4 am, Khan reached the park with this friend. The group then took Rs 570 from Khan, according to Rajiv Ranjan, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Rohini. After the robbery, the three of them got onto Krissh’s bike and rode towards Sector 26, Rohini. But soon, Khan chased them and managed to stop them near a school, police said.

“At that point, Ankit pulled out a knife and stabbed Khan, which led to his death. The three suspects then ran away, leaving Krissh’s bike behind, as it had gotten stuck in a drain,” DCP Ranjan explained. At around 6:15 am, a call was made to the police reporting an accident near Shamshan Ghat Road in Sector 26.

Probe underway

When the police arrived, they found Khan’s body lying on the road. He had several wounds, including cuts made by a knife. The police also found two bikes at the spot—an Apache parked on the side of the road and a Hero Passion Pro in the drain. One of these bikes was registered under Khan’s name, officers confirmed.

Police teams and forensic experts visited the scene. Khan’s body has been sent for a post-mortem. The police are still investigating the case to figure out exactly what happened and to find anyone else who may have been involved.
