Varun Dhawan reveals daughter’s DDH diagnosis

In an interview with Be A Man, Yaar!, Varun said Lara was diagnosed with DDH, in which the hip slips out of the hip socket. Her one leg was shorter than the other, which causes an uneven limp while walking. The actor shared that Western countries are well-equipped with treatment for DDH, but it is not common in India. However, with the help of qualified doctors and advanced medical care facilities in the country, it is reversible.

He also confirmed that with the help of the right treatment and timely diagnosis, she did not need a surgery. Her hip was put back with a procedure for which she had to be in a spica cast for two and a half months. Calling it ‘extremely difficult’, Varun said, “To put her in anaesthesia and then she woke up in a cast. Now the cast is out. I want to write a book on it.”

In the interview, Varun urged parents of young children to monitor their growth and consult a paediatrician if they suspect anything unusual in the early years of their development. He added that the story was shared not for sympathy, but to create awareness among parents who would not know much about the condition.
