Panic and tight space seen in the video
A video of this incident has gone viral on social media. It is seen in the footage that people standing outside are trying to force open the lift door.
When the door opens, several children are seen trapped in a small space, which shows how crowded the lift was. This also increased the concern about how difficult the situation must have been for the people trapped inside.
In the viral video, a person is also heard saying that at that time other lifts in the building were also under repair, which perhaps increased the problem.
Police response and clarification
A statement was shared from the official handle of DCP Central Noida, in which it was told that the lift had stopped due to a technical fault. The statement further said that the operator later opened the lift and all the trapped people were rescued safely.
Officials also confirmed that no one was harmed and normalcy was restored at the spot.
Questions on security due to repeated incidents
This incident has once again raised questions on the safety of lifts in high-rise buildings, especially in NCR areas like Noida and Greater Noida. There have been several cases of people trapped in elevators or elevator malfunctions in recent months, including reports of elevators suddenly collapsing and long delays in rescue.
Experts say that poor maintenance and lack of regular safety checks can be a major reason behind such recurring problems.
People’s anger erupted on social media
People have reacted strongly online to the viral video. Many users slammed builders and maintenance agencies for not taking security seriously. Some said that living in high-rises was becoming risky due to poor maintenance, while others demanded strict action against those responsible.
