In India, the brother-sister relationship is considered very sacred. On Rakshabandhan, sisters promise their protection by tying Rakhi on their brother’s wrist. But an incident has come to light in Defense Colony of Jamnagar, Gujarat which will tear apart this relationship. Here a man took the life of a woman who considered him as her brother and used to tie Rakhi every year. The murder of this trust has created a sensation in the entire area.

Dead body found in neighbor’s house

The matter came to light when a widow woman suddenly went missing. His sons lodged a complaint with the police. When the police started investigation, the woman’s body was recovered from her neighbor’s house. Surprisingly, the accused, along with the woman’s sons and family, was pretending to find her.

The name of the deceased woman was Rinkidevi Bantu Singh Katheria. She was originally from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. In 2021, her husband died of a heart attack, after which she was living with her three children in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Rinkidevi was working in a pharmaceutical factory in Naghedi village to support her three children – Rohit (19), Nitin (17) and Anjali (6).

When Rinke Devi did not return home from work two days ago, her elder son Rohit lodged a missing report with the police. After this the police and neighbors started searching for them. During investigation, the police came to know that Rinke Devi was last seen near the house of Vijay Odich, who lived in the flat below her. Rinkidevi had a deep bond with Vijay, she considered him her real brother and tied Rakhi every year.

But the accused murdered her and hid the body in his own house. Not only this, he was also pretending to search for them along with his family. The deceased woman’s son said in shock, “Vijay Odich treated us like his nephew. We used to call him uncle. He even helped us find our mother, but we can’t believe that he took our mother away from us.”

As soon as the body was found, Jamnagar police reached the spot and sent it for postmortem. Initial investigation has revealed that the woman died due to strangulation. Jamnagar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jaiveer Singh Jhala said, “We have arrested the accused Vijay Odich. We are interrogating him to know the reason behind the murder.”
