Dehradun: The much-awaited Dehradun-Delhi Expressway is set to be inaugurated soon, with preparations reaching their final stage. It is expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Dehradun in the first week of April to inaugurate the expressway.
Officials have intensified work along the expressway. Cleaning and painting activities have started, and garbage is being cleared from the route. Sources suggest that a public meeting of the Prime Minister may also be organized during the inauguration, with land being identified in Dehradun for this purpose.
Construction of Helipads
To facilitate the Prime Minister’s visit, six helipads are being constructed along the expressway. Three helipads have already been built near the Ganeshpur toll plaza, while work has begun on three more towards Dehradun. These helipads will ensure smooth travel arrangements for the Prime Minister and other dignitaries.
It is believed that PM Modi may also travel by car on the expressway during the inauguration. The elevated road built in Mohand for wildlife protection is considered a special feature of the project. Since helipads are being constructed near Ganeshpur, it is also expected that the Prime Minister may visit the Maa Daat Kali Temple during his trip.
Significance of the Expressway
The Dehradun-Delhi Expressway is a major infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity between Uttarakhand and the national capital. Once operational, it will reduce travel time significantly and boost tourism, trade, and economic growth in the region.
For Dehradun residents, the expressway promises smoother travel and better access to Delhi. For Uttarakhand as a whole, it is expected to strengthen links with the rest of the country and support development in both urban and rural areas.
Awaiting Confirmation
Although preparations are in full swing, the Prime Minister’s Office has not yet confirmed the exact date of the inauguration. However, officials are confident that the event will take place in the first week of April.
With helipads under construction, cleaning work underway, and officials working round the clock, the stage is being set for the grand inauguration of the Doon-Delhi Expressway. The project is expected to be a milestone in Uttarakhand’s connectivity, with Prime Minister Modi likely to lead the ceremony.
