Sadhvi Mamta Kulkarni’s controversial statement has come to light in the case of alleged impostor Baba Ashok Kharat alias ‘Captain’ arrested from Nashik, Maharashtra. In this case, he has raised questions on the victim women and blamed them.
Mamta Kulkarni said that when women went to Ashok Kharat, where was their intelligence? Did they not understand when he was touching them? She asked whether anyone would call her into the bedroom and she would leave? He said that women are also at fault in this.
He further said that today hypocrisy under the guise of religion has increased. He said that he himself has done penance, whereas today many people are cheating people in the name of religion. He appealed to the people to stay away from such religious gurus and concentrate directly on God.
Shocking evidence revealed in investigation
After the investigation of the case started, layers of dark deeds of Ashok Kharat kept getting revealed. Police investigation revealed that his ‘Oaks Property’ was the main base of his crimes. More than 100 obscene and objectionable videos have been recovered during the raid here.
So far, three FIRs have been registered against Ashok Kharat, one by the Crime Branch and two by the SIT. Many victimized women have come forward. In this entire matter, Maharashtra government has formed SIT and handed over the responsibility of investigation to IPS officer Tejashwi Satpute.
58 women were made victims
Police have found videos of 58 women from the pen drive of the accused. It is alleged that Ashok Kharat used to trick women and give them intoxicants, then hypnotize them and rape them. He used to blackmail them by recording obscene videos of them with hidden cameras. It is feared that the number of women trapped in his trap may be much more than this.
This is how the whole matter came to light
A 35-year-old woman, who had been a victim of this brutality for almost three years, gathered courage and lodged a complaint at Sarkarwada Police Station in Nashik, after which the entire matter came to light.
Ashok Kharat, arrested for sexually exploiting several women, also made assets worth more than Rs 200 crore. His properties are spread across urban and rural areas of Nashik district. The biggest property among these is about 30 acres of land in Pathardi area, the market value of which is said to be around Rs 150 crore.
