Bengaluru traffic advisory issued for IPL 2026 matches at Chinnaswamy Stadium | Details

New Delhi: The Bengaluru Traffic Police has released a traffic advisory ahead of two major Indian Premier League 2026 matches at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The advisory covers the opening game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 28, as well as the RCB vs Chennai Super Kings match scheduled for April 5.

Authorities have taken these steps to manage heavy traffic expected during match days, especially due to large crowds and the opening ceremony.

Parking restrictions around stadium

Police have banned parking on several key roads near the stadium. These include Queens Road between Balekundri Circle and CTO Junction, MG Road from Anil Kumble Circle to Queens Circle, and Link Road connecting MG Road to Cubbon Road.

Parking is also not allowed on Cubbon Road, St. Mark’s Road, Museum Road, Kasturba Road, Central Street, Lavelle Road, and Vittal Mallya Road. Roads inside Cubbon Park such as King Road, the Press Club area, and Fountain Road are also part of the no parking zone.

Officials warned that vehicles parked in these areas may face fines and towing.

Designated parking facilities

To ease congestion, police have arranged specific parking locations for visitors. These include St. Joseph’s Indian High School Ground at Siddalingaiah Circle and St. Joseph’s European School Ground on Museum Road.

Other parking options include Freedom Park MLCP, Garuda Mall, UB City, and the first floor of Shivajinagar TTMC. Authorities have asked visitors to use these facilities to reduce traffic pressure near the stadium.

Entry, exit and transport arrangements

Multiple entry and exit gates have been assigned for smooth crowd movement. Entry is allowed through Gates E-1 to E-3, E-18, E-19, E-22, E-23 on the Cubbon Road side, E-11 to E-17 on the Link Road side, and E-05 and E-08 on Queens Road.

Exit is permitted through Gates E-09 and E-9A. Gate E-10 is reserved for players, officials, and VIPs.

For those using cabs and autos, pickup points are set at BRV Ground and Manekshaw Parade Ground. Drop points are near Gate No. 06 and Gate No. 03.

Police have also urged people to use BMTC buses and metro services. They said heavy traffic is expected around the stadium, especially during the opening ceremony and advised commuters to plan their journey in advance and follow traffic rules.
