Rajasthan Royals’ deal worth Rs 15 thousand crores in danger, Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra went to BCCI

Rajasthan Royals was sold at a huge price of Rs 15 thousand crores but now there is a big hurdle in this deal. Former owner of Rajasthan Royals Raj Kundra has made a big claim on this and has demanded BCCI to stop this deal. Raj Kundra claimed that the owner of the franchise cannot be changed until his 11.7 percent stake in the team is settled. This team cannot be sold to anyone. Raj Kundra has now written a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI demanding rejection of this deal. He said that the matter regarding his alleged stake in Rajasthan Royals is still in the court.

BCCI has not yet given final approval

BCCI has not yet given final approval to the deal of Rajasthan Royals. The owner of Rajasthan Royals will change only after the IPL 2026 season. This deal has been accepted in principle but it has not yet received the final approval from BCCI. Now Raj Kundra has created a disturbance by entering this deal.

Story of Raj Kundra’s stake

Raj Kundra had bought 11.7 percent stake in Rajasthan Royals in the year 2009. Raj Kundra had invested around Rs 70 to 75 crore at that time. At that time Suresh Chellaram family held 44.2 percent shares and Manoj Badale held 32.4 percent shares. Lachlan Murdoch and the Kundra family were also partners in this, but after the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal, Kundra had to leave it. Today, a legal battle is going on regarding this 11.7% stake of Kundra. Legally, the Rajasthan Royals franchise cannot be sold until it is settled.

Rajkundra is banned from IPL

In the year 2013, the teams of Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings were involved in the IPL spot-fixing case. Delhi Police interrogated Raj Kundra in this case and it came to light that he had bet on IPL matches. After this BCCI immediately suspended him. Rajasthan Royals said that if Kundra is proved guilty then their shares will also be lost. In 2015, the decision of Lodha Committee came in which Kundra was found guilty. After this, BCCI banned him from participating in any cricket match.
