A ‘dinkwad’ couple (double income, no kids, with a dog) from Bengaluru spends ₹12-15 thousand every month on their pet dog. This trend is changing the pet-care market, where people are spending more on their pets than on themselves.
News a bit different: Nowadays people consider their pets as members of the family. There are many couples who decide not to have children and raise their dog or cat like children. One such story is attracting a lot of attention on social media. The case pertains to a couple from Bengaluru.
This couple follows ‘DINKWAD’ lifestyle, which means – Double Income, No Kids, With A Dog. GoQuest founder Gagan Arora has shared a post about this on LinkedIn.
Arora told the story of the house of a techie couple living in Indira Nagar, a posh area of Bengaluru. He wrote that this couple pays more attention to their pet dog’s food than their own food. They spend Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 every month on their dog’s food, grooming, medicines and toys. His fridge has a dedicated space for his dog, which is stocked with dog food worth Rs 2,400, probiotic supplements and specially labeled food. Arora says that people who are stingy in spending on themselves also do not compromise when it comes to their pets.
Couples without children are growing fond of their pets and are ready to spend any amount of money on them. Due to this trend, the market related to pet care is also changing rapidly. Many people have shared their similar experiences in the comments on Arora’s post. Some people wrote that they themselves eat ordinary food, but feed organic food to their dog.
