LPG New Rules: BPCL has changed the rules of LPG booking. Now customers can book maximum 2 cylinders in a month and 15 cylinders in a year. Booking will be done only through registered mobile number and OTP is mandatory for delivery. There will have to be a gap of 35-45 days between two bookings.
If you are an LPG customer of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), then this news is very important for you. The company has made some major changes regarding booking and delivery of cylinders, which will be applicable to all customers. The purpose of these new rules is to stop black marketing of gas cylinders and bring transparency in the system.
Booking of only 2 cylinders in a month
According to the new rule, now any customer will be able to book a maximum of two LPG cylinders in a month. This will prevent unnecessary additional bookings.
Booking will be done only through registered mobile number
Now to book a gas cylinder you will have to use only your registered mobile number. If you have changed your mobile number, get it updated immediately on your gas agency or official mobile app.
It is necessary to give OTP at the time of delivery
When the delivery boy brings the cylinder to your home, a Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) i.e. OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. You will be given the cylinder only after giving this OTP.
What to do if you need more cylinders?
If you need more cylinders for any reason, like a function, wedding or guests have come at home, then you have to request through “Hello BPCL” mobile app. You may have to give a reason for this.
Subsidized cylinder rule
The government will continue to provide 12 subsidized LPG cylinders in a financial year (April 1 to March 31) as before. If a customer uses these 12 cylinders and wants more cylinders, he will have to inform this in the app.
New booking rules for urban and rural areas
urban areas
- After booking a 14.2 kg cylinder, one will have to wait for at least 35 days for the next booking.
- Earlier this time was 25 days, which has now been extended.
rural areas
- In villages and remote areas, there will be a lock-in period of 45 days between two bookings.
- Beneficiaries of Ujjwala Scheme
- A waiting period of 45 days will also be applicable for the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).
Annual and monthly booking limit
- You can book a maximum of 2 cylinders in a month.
- A total of 15 cylinders can be booked in a year (1 April – 31 March).
- This includes 12 subsidized and 3 non-subsidized cylinders.
Booking gap for other size cylinders
- 5 kg cylinder: 9 to 16 days gap
- 10 kg cylinder: gap of 18 to 32 days
With these new rules, it is expected that the gas delivery system will be better and more transparent than before. However, customers will have to adjust to these changes. The most important thing is to keep your mobile number updated and follow the OTP system properly. To avoid any kind of problem, domestic customers are advised to book the cylinder well in advance keeping in mind their needs.
