Bengaluru: A 22 year old girl living alone in Bengaluru is in the news on social media. Reason? She has shared the list of her ‘Gen-Z expenses’ every month, which has gone viral. This girl named Shraddha Saini posted a video on Instagram, in which she is telling about her expenses ranging from food and drink to her mental health. In the caption of the video, he wrote, “What is one Gen-Z expense of yours that Millennials (ie the generation right before us) will never understand?” After this he told the complete list of his expenses.

These are Shraddha’s monthly expenses

Shraddha buys flowers 2-3 times every month, which costs around Rs 2,000. She takes therapy for her mental health, which costs around Rs 10,000 per month. Shraddha believes that her mental health is priceless. Apart from this, she goes on a brunch date every Sunday, which costs Rs 2,000 a month. Shraddha tells that she takes herself on a ‘self-date’ every weekend. Grooming and relaxing are also important parts of their routine. Massage and pedicure on weekends cost Rs 5,000 a month and nail care costs another Rs 3,000.

Not only this, to keep her mood good, she spends around Rs 1,000 on beautiful things and Rs 2,000 on self-reflection things like guided journals, gratitude planners. Shraddha calls all these ‘Gen-Z expenses’, because according to her, such expenses incurred on oneself are not considered common and people do not accept them easily.

Social media divided into support and opposition

Seeing the list of Shraddha’s expenses, people got divided into two groups on social media. Some users asked, “Expenses are fine, but you haven’t told how much you earn?” Many people termed it wasteful expenditure. At the same time, a large section also came in support of Shraddha. People wrote that it is a great thing to spend the money you earn on your own happiness and care. One user commented, “Millennials work hard, while Gen-Z is taking things easy. Spending Rs 10,000 a month on mental health is something Millennials have never done.”

Some people termed the therapy session as wrong and said that the girl should increase her social circle, this will automatically solve many problems. At the same time, others justified his decision to give priority to mental health.
