Shipping Ministry’s Special Secretary Rajesh Sinha clarified in the press conference that under international maritime rules, no country has the right to impose tax or levy on sea routes. He termed the news of Iran collecting duty from ships as completely baseless.

two ships passed safely

The government said that two Indian ships named Jag Vasant and Pine Gas have successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz. These ships have a total load of 92,612 metric tons of LPG and 60 Indian sailors are on board. Both ships are expected to reach Indian ports between March 26 and 28.

Other Indian ships present in Hormuz area

At present, there are a total of 20 Indian flagged ships present in the Hormuz area, all of which are said to be safe. Of these, 5 tankers are filled with LPG, which contain about 2.30 lakh metric tons of gas. Apart from this, another tanker is going to be loaded soon. The government is constantly monitoring the safety and movement of all these ships. The government says that despite the current situation, domestic LPG supply will not be allowed to be disrupted. The Shipping Ministry and related agencies are continuously monitoring the situation, so that any shortage can be avoided.

India also active at diplomatic level
