A 35-year-old woman who had gone to get her teeth removed in Palamu, Jharkhand, died. The family members have accused the doctor of giving wrong injections. The accused doctor is absconding after the incident and the police have registered a case and started investigation.
A shocking case has come to light from Jharkhand, where a woman who had gone for dental treatment died in the clinic itself. It is alleged that the woman lost her life due to the doctor’s mistake. The matter is of Hariharganj of Palamu district. 35 year old Bijanti Devi was having toothache for few days. To get rid of this he decided to get his teeth removed. She along with her husband reached ‘Janata Dant Chikitsalaya’, a private dental clinic in Hariharganj. There the doctor examined him and gave him local anesthesia (numbing injection) to remove the tooth. But what happened next blew everyone’s senses.
Woman dies due to wrong injection
Bijanti Devi never got up again. After the incident, the accused doctor has absconded and the police have registered a case and started investigation. The woman’s 36-year-old husband Mukesh Chandra Bharti told the police in his complaint that he is a resident of Aurangabad district of Bihar. He alleged that his wife died after the doctor gave her a wrong injection. Mukesh told, “My wife was having a toothache. One of her teeth was half broken, which was causing her a lot of pain. Many people of our village had earlier got treatment in that clinic, that is why we also reached this clinic in Palamu at around 10:30 in the morning.”
According to Mukesh, a dentist named Ashraf Ali examined his wife, checked her blood pressure and asked for a blood sugar test. Sugar came out to be around 140. After this the doctor started the process of removing the tooth. An injection was given to numb the area of the tooth and then the tooth was removed. About an hour later, the doctor prescribed some medicines and asked for an injection. A compounder administered that injection. Mukesh said, “As soon as the injection was given, my wife started vomiting and her condition immediately started deteriorating.”

He told that when the doctor was informed about this, he gave two more injections. Within a few minutes Bijanti’s face turned pale and she stopped doing any movement. After this the doctor left the clinic saying to bring an ambulance and did not return. Crying, Mukesh said that with the help of the local people present there, he first took his wife to a nearby private children’s hospital and then to the Community Health Center in Hariharganj. The doctors there declared Bijanti dead after examination.
Incharge of Hariharganj police station said that based on the husband’s statement, a case has been registered and investigation is going on. Postmortem of the body has been done and the report is awaited. He said, “We have registered an FIR against the main accused doctor. Nothing can be said with certainty about the role of the compounder right now. The entire truth of the case will come out only after the arrest of the accused.”
