Air traffic control (ATC) audio recordings show that the controller first allowed the fire truck to cross the runway, then immediately ordered it to stop. But by then the plane and the truck had come face to face. Audio recordings obtained from the air traffic control tower show that a controller gave permission for the fire brigade (which was on its way to another incident) to cross the runway, but shortly afterwards ordered the vehicle to stop immediately. The transcript reads: “Frontier 4195, please stop right there. (Pausing briefly.) Stop, stop, stop, truck one, stop, stop, stop. Stop, truck one, stop! Stop, truck one, stop.” Then an alarm sounds.
