72nd National Film Awards: Telugu Movies Win Big

Telugu cinema made a decent impact at the 72nd National Film Awards, with films from the industry winning seven awards across major and technical categories for the year 2024.

The winners were announced by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the National Media Centre in New Delhi on Saturday.

Committee Kurrollu and Pushpa 2: The Rule Part 02 led the Telugu winners’ list with two awards each.

Committee Kurrollu won Best Telugu Film and Best Make-up, while Pushpa 2 bagged honours for Original Screenplay and Costume Design.

Kalki 2898 AD won the award for Best Production Design, recognising Nitin Zihani Choudhary’s work. Lucky Baskhar was honoured for Best Dialogue Writer, with Venky Atluri receiving the award.

The Telugu film 35-Chinna Katha Kaadu, which had received awards at the State level, also received an award for the best child artist. Arundev Pothula shared the Best Child Artist award.

The awards considered films certified by the Central Board of Film Certification between January 1 and December 31, 2024. An 11-member jury led by filmmaker Jayaraj selected this year’s winners after reviewing entries from across India.
