The Income Tax Department has launched two mobile apps named AIS for Taxpayer and Income Tax Department (Aaykar Setu). These apps are available on both Android and iOS platforms. Their purpose is to make ITR filing so easy that even the common man can fill his tax return without any help. These apps are specially designed for jobbers, pensioners and small taxpayers.

How to file ITR from mobile app?

First of all, you have to download these apps in your mobile. Then follow the easy steps given below:

1. Login:

As soon as you open the app, you have to login with the help of your PAN, Aadhaar and password. If you have not already registered, then a new account will have to be created.

2. Automatic data will be available:

After login, the app will show your year -long information related to places like your bank, employer, mutual funds. With this you will have to fill very little data manually.

3. Election of the right ITR form:

The app will tell itself on the basis of your income (salary, pension, capital gains etc.), which ITR form is right for you.

4. Check and update the information:

If any information is wrong or something is missed, such as interest of FD, rental income, then you can add it manually.

5. Do e-verification:

When all the information is filled correctly, you can e-verify the return from Aadhaar OTP, Net Banking or Digital Signature. As soon as the returns are deposited, you will also get an analyzment immediately.

Which documents will be needed?

Before filing ITR, these three things should be with you, including an active and valid PAN card, current mobile number and email ID.

The e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department is no longer a means of filing ITR, but is a complete tax management service. Here you can not only deposit tax, but can see refund status, answer the notice from the department and also check old filing records.
