Speaking at TV9 India’s WITT Summit 2026, the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India has maintained the pace of its progress amidst every turmoil around the world. He said that ever since the war started, in the last 23 days, development projects worth thousands of crores of rupees have been carried out across the country from East to West and from North to South. Inauguration of important metro corridors in Delhi, foundation stone of high speed corridor of Silchar, foundation stone of new airport in Kota, giving status of international airport to Madurai airport, many such works have been done in the last 23 days only.
These schemes were announced
PM Modi said in the TV9 Summit that in the last one month itself, a grand scheme has been approved to accelerate industrial development. Under this, 100 plug and play industrial parks will be developed across the country. Small hydro power scheme has also been approved in the country. With this, 1500 MW new hydro power capacity will be added in the coming years. He said that during this time it has been decided to extend the Jal Jeevan Mission till the year 2028. Many big decisions have also been taken for the interests of farmers. In the same month, more than Rs 18 thousand crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. He further said that a relief package of Rs 500 crore has also been announced for MSMEs and exporters.
How many kilometers of highways are being built every day?
While addressing the WITT Summit 2026 keynote address, PM Modi said that all these steps are proof of how fast the country is working to create a developed India. He said that if we assess the 10 or 11 years before 2014 and the 10-11 years after that, we will see how India has transformed every sector. Earlier, highways were built at a speed of 11-12 kilometers per day. Now the highway is being constructed at a speed of 30 kilometers per day. Earlier the turnaround time of ships at ports was 5-6 days. Now the same work is being completed in less than two days.
55 lakh bank accounts opened
PM Modi further said in his address that earlier there was no discussion about startup culture. Before 2014, there were only 400 to 500 startups in our country. At present there are more than 2 lakh registered startups in the country. Earlier seats in medical education were also limited. Earlier there were about 50 to 55 thousand medical seats. At present these seats have increased to more than 1.25 lakh. Even before the banking system, crores of people were outside it. Earlier there were only around 25 crore bank accounts in the country. Now more than 55 crore accounts have been opened through Jan Dhan Yojana. Earlier the number of airports in our country was also less than 70. At present their number has now increased to more than 160.
