Kamada Ekadashi 2026 Vrat Ki Tiyan: Ekadashi fast has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. The fast of Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world. This holy fast dedicated to Lord Vishnu is observed every month on the Ekadashi date of Krishna and Shukla Paksha. The Ekadashi fast observed every year has its own significance. Kamada Ekadashi fast is observed on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month.
There is a religious belief that by observing the fast of Kamada Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu as per the rituals, life remains happy due to the grace of Lord Vishnu. Fasting on Kamada Ekadashi also liberates one from the great sin of killing a Brahmin, but the fast on Kamada Ekadashi should be observed as per the rules. Kamada Ekadashi date 2026
- Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month will start on 28 March 2026, at 8.45 am.
- This date will end the next day on March 29, 2026, at 7:46 am.
Hence as per Udayatithi, the fast of Kamada Ekadashi will be observed on 29th March.
Do not do these things on the day of Kamada Ekadashi
- On the day of Kamada Ekadashi, do not eat lentils, brinjal, carrot, rice, turnip, beans, cabbage and spinach etc.
- Do not consume barley during the fast on this day.
- Do not pluck basil leaves on this day. Breaking basil on this day is considered a great sin. Pluck the basil leaves used in the worship of Lord Vishnu in advance.
- Do not get your hair, nails and beard done on this day. It is believed that by doing this the auspicious effects of the planets are destroyed.
- Do not speak ill of anyone on this day. Don’t insult poor people even by mistake. Don’t lie.
- Those fasting on this day should not sleep at night. Stay awake the whole night and sing bhajans and kirtans of Lord Vishnu.
- On this day, do not sweep the house after sunset.
- Avoid washing hair on this day.
- Do not donate iron objects, black colored things, old clothes, grains or oil on this day.
