PM Modi Lok Sabha Speech: Amidst the increasing tension of war in Middle East countries (West Asia), will there be a crisis of petrol, diesel and LPG in India? Giving great relief to the country, Prime Minister Modi spoke openly about India’s ‘energy backup’ and masterplan in the Lok Sabha on Monday. Know what the PM said…

PM Modi in Lok Sabha: There is a stir in the whole world due to the ongoing war between America, Israel and Iran in the Middle East. The biggest fear is that if the Strait of Hormuz is closed, then what will happen to the supply of oil and gas in countries like India? On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given great assurance to the country in the Lok Sabha on this serious issue. PM Modi said in clear words that no matter what the situation is in the world, India’s ‘energy security’ is very strong. The country not only has a huge stock of oil, but ‘Plan-B’ is also ready for backup.

What is India’s ‘Plan-B’?

The Prime Minister said that India has greatly strengthened its strategic preparedness in the last decade. India has stored 53 lakh metric tons of crude oil. This is an ’emergency fund’ which can be used in times of crisis. The PM said that in the last 10 years, we have given priority to the storage of crude oil, so that the country’s progress does not stop even in war-like situations.

Now oil comes to India from 41 countries

Earlier India was dependent on selected countries for its energy needs, but now the picture has changed. PM Modi said that ‘Till 11 years ago, we used to source oil and gas from only 27 countries, but today India’s network has spread to 41 countries.’ This means that even if there is a problem in any one area or route (like the Strait of Hormuz), India can still meet its needs from other countries.

Special focus on LPG and household needs

In this era of inflation, the biggest concern for the common man is about LPG. PM gave great relief on this also. The Prime Minister said that India imports 60% of its LPG requirement from outside. The government has kept household needs on its first priority, so that there is no shortage of gas in homes. Apart from this, refining capacity has been increased and supply management has been made better than before, so that there is no interruption in the supply chain.

A large part of the world supplies oil and gas through this sea route. PM Modi admitted that there is a danger of closure of this route, but assured that the government is in constant touch with partners around the world so that the supply remains regular.
