The new super specialty block of RML Hospital, New Delhi is almost ready to open. Just waiting for the final fire safety clearance. In the first phase, an advanced radiology department with facilities like super specialty OPD, modern dialysis unit and CT/MRI will be started.
Sources associated with the matter said that all the major regulatory and infrastructure related requirements have been fulfilled to start this state-of-the-art facility, paving the way for starting advanced care services for patients.
These services will start in the first phase
In the new super specialty block, work on a super specialty outpatient department (OPD), a modern dialysis unit and an advanced radiology department will begin first. Machines like Computed Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) have been installed in the Radiology Department. With the launch of these services, thousands of patients are expected to get consultation from specialist doctors, better care for kidney patients and access to high-end diagnostic imaging.
Hope to get final clearance soon
According to senior officials, the process of mandatory approval for fire safety is in its final stages. Although this project had received fire clearance at the stage of planning and construction approval in 2022, but as per the rules, after the completion of construction, another clearance is required before starting the movement of patients in the building.
A senior official said, “All kinds of inspections and compliance checks have been completed. Fire department officials have also conducted the necessary site visits. It was also checked whether the fire brigade vehicles can easily move around the building in case of any emergency. Now we are just waiting for the final clearance, which is expected to be given soon.”
Officials also said that another major hurdle has been removed. Delhi Urban Art Commission (DUAC) had earlier raised some issues regarding parking arrangements, which have now been resolved. This has cleared the way for starting the project.
Start in stages and have a big impact
The hospital has made a strategy to start it in phases, so that the patients start getting its benefits without any interruption. With the start of specialist OPD services in the first phase, it will be easier to get advice from expert doctors, the waiting time will reduce and the disease can be detected early and treatment can be started. At the same time, the dedicated dialysis unit will significantly increase the hospital’s capacity to treat patients suffering from serious kidney diseases. Facilities like CT and MRI will help in early and accurate detection of diseases.
Another senior official said, “The hospital has adopted a phase-wise model so that patients can avail the benefits of this new infrastructure as soon as possible. Gradually, other super specialty departments will also be started.”
This new super specialty block has been developed as an integrated center for advanced healthcare. It is expected that its launch will reduce the pressure on the existing infrastructure of RML Hospital, provide patients with modern facilities under one roof and promote multi-disciplinary treatment. Health experts say that this facility will be a major achievement for the public healthcare infrastructure of Delhi. Once fully operational, this super specialty block will provide affordable and quality medical facilities to patients not only in Delhi but also in neighboring states.
