Badshah’s Tateeree controversy: Haryana police takes down 857 links

Mumbai: Badshah’s song Tateeree is in the middle of an intense controversy. The Haryana police have intensified measures to prevent the song from circulating. According to Panchkula Police, the department has taken down 857 links related to the song, including 154 YouTube videos and 703 Instagram reels.

The action came after the song was slapped with multiple FIRs in Haryana. Further, the Haryana State Commission for Women sought Badshah’s arrest for failing to appear in court despite multiple summons. The music video was labelled as objectionable, inappropriate and vulgar.

Why is Badshah’s Tateeree being taken down?

Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said that any content degrading the dignity of women and minors will not be tolerated in the state. He added that social media and other digital platforms would be strictly monitored to prevent the spread of such content. The officer added that the state, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, was committed to creating a secure digital space for society.

The police department stated that all versions of the song, including reels, re-uploads, etc, were being taken down.

Additional Director General of Police and Panchkula Commissioner Shibash Kabiraj stated that strict action would be taken against individuals who spread any content featuring the banned song. The social media page of offenders would be blocked or restricted. Meanwhile, those who repeat the offence would face serious charges.

Legal action against Badshah’s Tateeree

The song was released on March 1, 2026. It is a Haryanvi hip-hop song, written by Badshah and directed by Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, released on the singer’s official YouTube channel. The song features Badshah along with Simran Jaglan. The song came under investigation after an FIR was registered at the Cyber Police Station, Sector-20, Panchkula.

Amid the escalation, Badshah has not released any official statements relating to the controversy.
