Bengaluru Lamborghini stunt uncovers connection to underworld figure Muthappa Rai’s son

New Delhi: After drawing attention nationwide, a new angle has been added to the Lamborghini stunt incident as Bengaluru police traced the vehicle’s owner and found out that Ricky Rai, who is the son of late underworld figure Muthappa Rai, escalated the matter that commenced with just a viral video.

The drifting video of the Lamborghini was widely shared on social media on Saturday morning. The high-end car skids near the Anil Kumble Circle on MG Road between 2 am and 3 am.

Cubbon Park traffic police charged suo motu and took action within hours. Officials found out the vehicle owner’s residence in no time and seized the car from Rai’s house in RMV Extension near Sankey Tank in Sadashivanagar.

A senior officer confirmed that two notices have been issued in the name of Rai, including one on Saturday and another on Sunday. Rai was asked to appear at the station before the investigation officer, but he has not yet responded to the notice.

Initially, the police inquired that the high-end car was originally registered in the name of a Delhi-based person, and later the vehicle was sold to Rai. Officials have now taken the inquiry to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to confirm the current ownership of the vehicle.

CCTV footage confirmed that two people were sitting inside the car during the stunt. However, the officials have not identified the person who was driving the car at the time of the stunt.

Constable Shanmukha N filed a complaint under sections 184 (dangerous driving) and 189 (racing and speed trials) of the Motor Vehicles Act, along with Section 281 (rash driving on a public way) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita.
