Story of Maa Skandamata
According to the legend, there was a demon named Tarakasura. He pleased Brahmaji with his hard penance. Brahma ji was pleased and gave him a boon that his death would be possible only at the hands of Mahadev’s son. During that time Mahadev was engrossed in meditation and Sati’s second birth had not yet taken place. Then Tarakasura felt that now Lord Shiva will never marry. In such a situation, he will not have a son and he will become immortal.
After this Tarakasur started torturing him. Troubled by his atrocities, the gods approached Lord Shiva. The gods tried to wake up Lord Shiva by meditation. During that time, Goddess Sati was born as Parvati to Himalaya Raja. Mother Parvati did penance to get Mahadev. When Mahadev lost his concentration due to the efforts of the gods, he got married to Mother Parvati. After this Lord Kartikeya (Skanda) was born.
Mother Parvati herself taught war to Lord Skanda. Later Lord Kartikeya killed Tarakasura. According to religious belief, by worshiping Skandmata with true heart, problems related to the life of the child are eliminated.
